Just before her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Kentucky saved beagle was seen alongside the Queen of England earlier this year and made headlines. Now his story is heading to the shelves.
Guy the Beagle had a modest start, but two upcoming children's books will tell how he went from a Kentucky animal shelter to a car with Queen Elizabeth II.
The first, "His Royal Dogness, Guy the Beagle: The True Story of Meghan Markle's Rescue Dog," will be released on November 20, 2018. The book was written by Camille March and Mike Brum and illustrated by EG Keller.
The publisher of the book, Simon & Schuster, has published the following summary:
"Like all good stories, Guy Beagle begins to get lost in the woods of Kentucky. But his fortune changes when he is saved by none other than the princess … uh, the future Duchess Meghan Markle. Practically overnight, Guy passes waves to riches. But does this beagle have what it takes to be welcomed into the royal family?
The second, "The Duchess and the guy: a story of puppy love to the rescue" should be released on January 15, 2019. It was written by Nancy Furstinger and illustrated by Julia Bereciartu.
The book is presented as a story "in search of riches" and includes the following summary on Amazon:
"A comforting tale about a beagle and the Duchess who adopted her, this picture book inspires the true story of Meghan Markle and her rescue dog, Guy. When he was a puppy, Guy was like any dog in the shelter; he loved to bark and follow his nose and dreamed of a forever home above all else. But when Guy met Meghan, he had no idea that he was about to play in his own Cinderella story. We can now see Guy escorting Queen Elizabeth and frolicking in Buckingham Palace.
According to The Guardian, Guy was adopted as part of "A Dog's Dream Rescue", an Ontario-based organization.
According to ABC News, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and her husband, Prince Harry, have recently adopted another dog, a Labrador puppy.
