Meghan has been reunited with her dress for an ITV documentary

The Duchess of Sussex revealed that a piece of dress worn during her first date with Prince Harry was her "something blue" on her wedding day.

Brides traditionally pick up something old, new, borrowed and blue to bring them luck on their wedding day.

She also revealed that she had only seen her veil for the first time on her wedding day.

Meghan was watching the dress worn for her "magic day" in a new ITV documentary.

The two-part program – Queen Of The World – examines the role of the Queen on the world stage.

The duchess told the program that her "something blue" was sewn somewhere inside the dress.

"It's the fabric of the dress that I brought to our first date," she said.

The Duchess said that she trusted Clare Waight Keller seamstress so much that she only saw her veil – embroidered with flowers from all 53 Commonwealth nations – that morning of the wedding.

"I knew it would be a funny surprise for my husband, who did not know it, and he was really about to discover that I would make that choice for our day together.

"And I think the other family members have had a similar reaction, and a fair appreciation of the fact that we understand how important it is to us and the role we play."

She added, "It's nice to see him again, it's beautiful."

The couple is married on May 19 at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Meghan and Harry will begin their first major Commonwealth tour in October, traveling to Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.
