The first lady, Melania Trump, said that women who accuse men of sexual misconduct must "show evidence" and that both men and women should be heard in case of alleged sexual assault. Trump spoke with ABC News in an interview, part of which was broadcast on "Good Morning America" Wednesday. The interview, which was conducted while Trump was tour in Africawill be broadcast in full on Friday.

"I support women and they need to be heard," Trump told the question whether she supported the Me Too movement. "We have to support them, as well as men, not just women."

Trump said that there must be "hard evidence" to prove that a man had committed any type of sexual misconduct.

"I stand with women, but we have to show evidence," she said. Echoing her husband and the Republicans who accused the press of eagerly reporting stories of unprovoked misconduct, Trump added that "sometimes the media goes too far."

"The way they describe certain stories is not correct, it's not correct," she said. Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the newly confirmed Supreme Court has seen his confirmation stalled for weeks due to allegations of sexual misconduct for several women.

Trump also said that some organizations and foundations were not willing to associate with it because of their disgust for the administration in another part of the interview aired on Tuesday.

"I have the impression that they choose politics rather than helping others," she said. She declined to say which organizations specifically refused to work with her. "I do not want to put them in front of the world, but they know who they are."
