The first lady, Melania Trump, said Thursday in an interview with the White House that her husband did not trust anyone, including people who still worked there, and considered herself one of the the most harassed people in the world.

During the interview with ABC News, made during his recent solo trip to Africa, interviewer Tom Llamas asked Trump if the president had people who worked for him whom she did not trust.

"Yes," she replied, adding that she had informed her husband.

"Some people do not work there anymore," Trump said.

When asked if there were still people in the administration that she could not trust, Trump answered yes.

"It's harder to govern," said the first lady. "You must always watch your backs."

His comments follow an anonymous editorial published in the New York Times last month, stating that there was a "resistance" within the Trump administration. The Times said the room was written by a senior administration official, whose identity has still not been made public.

During the interview, Llamas also asked Trump if she had the most control over her husband's decisions among those in the White House.

"Oh, I wish," she said with a laugh.

"I give him my opinion and my honest opinions, then he does what he wants," Trump said.

During the interview, Trump also discussed his child protection initiative, Be Best, which focuses on fighting cyberbullying.

"I could say that I am the most intimidated person in the world," said the first lady.

Insisting on this statement, she added: "One of them, if you really see what people are saying about me."
