The Hatch Act prohibits White House officials from pleading for or against the candidates.
Before the White House, Grisham worked on Trump's presidential campaign. She had tweeted, "Three years ago today, I listened to my instincts and joined the Trump team in #PHX … and life has never been the same. I am proud to work for @POTUS @realDonaldTrump & @FLOTUS, "she tweeted.
It was reported by a political monitoring group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which filed a complaint with the Bureau of the Special Council, an independent investigative agency. CREW's complaint is that Grisham was engaging in a prohibited political activity when she tweeted the Trump campaign's slogan, "MAGA".
Reached to comment on the decision, Grisham tells CNN that she stands firm to the feelings in her tweet.
"Since the first day, I have been proud to work for this president, this first lady and this administration," she said.
Grisham, whose tweet also included a photo of a Trump campaign rally back in 2015, received a warning letter from the Office of the Special Advisor in which she said she should not
With this decision, Grisham joins his administration colleagues, White House social media director, Dan Scavino, advisor to President Kellyanne Conway, and UN ambassador, Nikki Haley, who have all already the subject of complaints from CREW.
