Melania Trump will not join her husband in the 2018 election campaign to convince Republicans

First lady Melania Trump will not participate in any campaign event in the last days leading up to the mid-term elections on November 6th, her office confirmed on Thursday. This comes as President Donald Trump plans to hold at least 10 campaign rallies ahead of election day, as he and the Republican party seek to prevent Democrats from taking control of Congress.

"Because of her employment as a mother and first lady, especially in the approach of holidays, she does not intend to campaign at that time," said her director of communications, Stephanie Grisham, in a statement.

The first lady was not seen in the election campaign in the mid-term elections of 2018 and was campaigning for her husband in 2016.

Despite its absence from the election campaign in 2016 and now in 2018, Trump has recently gained greater public visibility. She made an international trip to Africa earlier this month to promote her "Be Best" campaign.
