Meredith Gray is a ghost tour of The anatomy of Gray'The past.
In the honor of Halloween earlier this week, the episode of the hit TV series ABC, entitled "Flowers Grow Out of My Tomb", featured a montage of familiar faces that lost their lives their emission.

When Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) left the hospital at the end of the episode, viewers saw George (T. R. Knight) running around a corner. her mother Ellis (Kate Burton) smiling at her from behind; his dog Doc walking in a corridor; his sister Lexie (Chyler Leigh) behind a counter; and her husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and his best friend Mark (Eric Dane) watching her as she walks to the door.
The emotional moment was placed on Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" song, which was used by the series in several memorable scenes from the past.
The anatomy of Gray showrunner Krista Vernoff said Weekly entertainment the end was planned months in advance once they realized that an episode would air on November 1, also known as the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos).
"We had already done Halloween episodes, but it was something special and we could really do it," she said. "We represented holidays that had never been represented in our show."

And while old images of past characters were used to create this moment, Vernoff said that some actors had actually returned to shoot the scene.

"We talked about it for four months with the people in charge of visual effects. You really have to plan a sequence like this, "she said. "We combined old broadcast footage, old footage that was not showing – we pulled out old dailies – and we shot new footage. Doc, we fired. Ellis, we fired. And the idea of that, for me, is that we do not know if it's in Meredith's imagination or memory, or if it's really happening. No matter what everyone believes, there is a little something.
The anatomy of Gray broadcasts Thursdays (8 pm ET) on ABC.
