BERLIN (Reuters) – Support for Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative alliance and her left-wing Social Democrat (SPD) partners has set a record for such a government, according to a poll released on Sunday.

Pollster Emnid's survey for the weekly Bild am Sonntag supported Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and its Bavarian allies, the Christian Social Union (CSU), down one point to 29% .
In the federal election last September, the CDU / CSU bloc won 32.9% of the vote.
The survey increased SPD support by two points to 17%. In the last election, the SPD won 20.5% of the vote.
Their combined score of 46% was the lowest of any CDU / CSU / SPD coalition – a combination that also held power in 2005-09 and 2013-17 – in Emnid's poll for Bild am Sonntag. The pollster polled 2,472 voters between August 30 and September 5.
Support for the anti-immigration alternative for Germany (AfD) remained unchanged from the previous week at 15%, according to the survey. The far left Linke won a point at 10%. Green ecologists remained unchanged at 14% and Free Business Democrats (FDP) remained at 9%.
Support to other parties increased by two points to 6%.
