MIAMI – Sandy Alcantara gave only one point in five innings, earning her first career start while the Miami Marlins defeated the Mets, 8-2, on Friday night.

JT Riddle hit a three-run homer and Lewis Brinson, who had three hits, also had a crucial third innings in six innings.

The Marlins catcher JT Realmuto returned to the lineup after missing four games due to an injury to the hand. Realmuto went 1 in 4 and ran in the race.

Alcantara (1-0), a 22-year-old right-handed player, dropped two batters and dropped five walks and three hits. The best hope in the off-season trade that sent Marcell Ozuna to the St. Louis Cardinals, Alcantara made eight relief appearances for the Cardinals last season.

The Mets & # 0; Corey Oswalt (0-1) started instead of Jacob deGrom, who scratched hours before the match because of a family affair. The Mets are waiting for DeGrom to start on Saturday afternoon.

Oswalt was nothing like DeGrom, whose 1,69 E.R.A. is the best in the majors. Oswalt allowed six hits and six points, all in the third inning, in a two-run start and two-thirds.

Brinson finished third with his 10th circuit of the season. Realmuto and Starlin Castro followed with singles scoring points before Riddle's shot on the right court gave the Marlins a 6-0 lead.

Devin Mesoraco had a double for the Mets, who lost nine out of 10

Cameron Maybin hit Brinson in the sixth, giving the Marlins a 7-1 lead.

Inside Pitch

Pitcher Jason Vargas (Calf) should join the Mets rotation next the week. The fielder Yoenis Cespedes (hip) stayed in Port St. Lucie, Florida, rather than joining the team for this series. He will continue treatment and physiotherapy.
