At least this week, they are going in the right direction.
The Miami Hurricanes, who made up for their 20-point deficit in the second half to defeat the Nemesis Florida State on Saturday, earned a No. 17-16 spot in the top 25 AP polls on Sunday.
In the other big ranking of the Amway Coaches Survey, the Canes won two places from # 17 to # 15.
Last week, the Canes dropped in the polls after their victory over North Carolina, opposed to the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Miami is now 5-1 with a 2-0 record at ACC, with only one loss in the opener against LSU. The Canes were ranked No. 8 in pre-season, but dropped to No. 22 after their 33-17 loss to the Tigers. With the exception of last week, they have gradually increased.
LSU, in turn, was in fifth place ahead of Saturday's loss to the Florida Gators (5-1), but fell back to number 13 on Sunday.
And the Gators? They were No. 22 last week, but climbed from eight places Sunday to No. 14.
The Canes will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, for 7 pm Saturday, kick against the Cavaliers. Their next four or five games are on the road.
