Michigan is No. 4, West Virginia jumps into the top 10

After 10 teams from the top 25 of the Associated Press lost on Saturday, the standings were quite different on Sunday.

While the top three from Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame remained unchanged, LSU's 29-0 defeat against Alabama allowed the Tigers to move from No. 4 to No. 9. This allowed Michigan to win a place at No. 4 after demolition. The Penn State, which went from No. 14 to No. 21, will he see the same movement in the ranking of Tuesday night College Football Playoff?

Behind LSU, the second highest-ranked team to lose was Kentucky's 11th place. After the Wildcats fell to 6th place in Georgia, they lost only one place in 12th place. Georgia won a fifth place. Florida went from thirteenth to 19th place. Florida lost to Missouri, unrated, Saturday at home.

West Virginia gained five places in seventh place after beating Texas, Syracuse gained nine places in thirteenth place and Boston College climbed seven places to rank 17.

The teams that fell from the standings after the defeats are Utah (No. 16), Houston (No. 17), Iowa (No. 19), Virginia (No. 23) and Texas A & M (No. 25).

The ranked teams that were not ranked last week are: No. 20 Washington, No. 22 NC State, No. 23 Iowa State, No. 24 Michigan State and No. 25 Cincinnati.
