East Lansing – Police say a 22-year-old Michigan State University student has been fatally shot during an off-campus student apartment complex.

East Lansing Police say the man, who was originally from Texas, was pronounced dead early Friday at a hospital. Police initially said he was not a student. His name and hometown were not immediately released.

Police shot at a shot of fired shots. Police say they do not think there's an immediate danger to the public.

The apartment complex is located about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) north of the Michigan State University campus. The shooting is under investigation.
