Microsoft surpassed Amazon to become Friday the second largest technology company in the United States.

The ranking change is the result of a decline in the value of Amazon shares, reports Reuters, after a weaker-than-expected quarterly report released by the online retailer wiped out a market capitalization $ 65 billion.

Microsoft, meanwhile, saw a positive quarterly report on Wednesday and has gained 4% market value since then, according to Reuters.

The value of Amazon's stock rose to $ 805 billion on Friday, and that of Microsoft to $ 823 billion, according to the press service. Even so, Amazon's gains since the start of the year have outstripped those of Microsoft, with Amazon growing by about 40 percent and Microsoft by 25 percent.

Apple is expected to announce its quarterly finances next Thursday. The company became the first US company to reach a value greater than $ 1 trillion earlier this year, after a period of record share buybacks.

Amazon shares have plunged sometimes like President TrumpDonald John Trump: The Trump Administration Takes Action to Ban Migrant Asylum Claims from Central America proposed to apply stricter rules to society.

Trump has quarreled with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, also the owner of the Washington Post. Trump criticized the company's deal with the US postal service and asked if it was paying enough taxes.

The retailer announced earlier this month that it would raise its company-wide minimum wage to $ 15 an hour earlier this month, thus winning a victory for the progressives that pushed the company to improve the wages and benefits of workers.
