MIDDLETON, Wisconsin – Authorities, including the FBI, are reacting to reports that a shooter reportedly launched a software company in Middleton early Wednesday, officials said.
Dispatcher at the Dane County Communications Center said the dispatch had received several reports from an active shooter in the 1800 block of Deming Way from 10:25 am.
Middleton City administrator Mike Davis told News 3 around 12:40 pm that the situation in Middleton is considered stable.
Madison Police said around 12:30 pm that the shooter was no longer on the Deming Way site.
The alleged gunman was also injured, reported the AP. Davis said four people were shot dead, no fatally.
A spokesman for UW Health told News 3 that the hospital was treating four patients. The St. Mary's Hospital also treats a patient with injuries that do not put his life at risk.
Two of the people taken care of at the UW hospital are in serious condition and one is in critical condition, hospital officials said. A status on the fourth patient was not immediately available.
Dan Reeve, sales director of Esker Software, said that a shoot had not taken place in their building, it happened next door. All Esker employees are safe and secure.

Middleton police have sent an alert to residents in the area to lock their doors and their homes.
Middleton High School, Kromrey Middle School and Clark Street Community School were briefly closed on Wednesday, a school district spokeswoman told News 3. The lockdown was lifted at around 12:15 pm
Several other places in the area are stranded, including the Little Red pre-school on Terrace Avenue, the Clubhouse for Kids in the Deming Way block of 3100, the World Market, Endurance House and the entire Greenway Station shopping mall. . DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse customers, who are part of Greenway Station and locked, are at the back of the store waiting for police to know if they need to be evacuated.
