The port of entry of San Ysidro began to close pedestrian ways and crossings Sunday morning in the middle of steps on both sides of the border to support the caravan of migrants.
US Customs and Border Services closed all lanes south of Mexico at the San Ysidro port of entry at approximately 11:15 am
The treatment of northbound vehicle traffic at the San Ysidro Port of Entry has also been suspended.
Shortly after, CBP closed the crosswalks at the east and west facilities.
Two border marches support migrant caravan
CBP agents could be seen in riot gear along the road to Mexico.

The San Ysidro entry point is the busiest land border crossing in the world, with about 110,000 people entering the United States every day. This traffic includes approximately 40,000 vehicles, 34,000 pedestrians and 150 to 200 buses.
This also occurs when families have started to return home after the Thanksgiving weekend.
Due to activity in the area, the Blue Line Trolley will not serve the San Ysidro Transit Center, the San Diego Metropolitan Transportation System announced at 12:30 pm.
Trains will stop on Beyer Boulevard. MTS suggested to travelers to Mexico to get off at Iris Avenue and join the 905 or 950 routes to the border at Otay Mesa.
Nearly 20 migrant rights and social justice groups form the San Diego Migrant and Refugee Solidarity Coalition, which hosted the American Walk.
The coalition and others started at Larsen Field, on the Camino de la Plaza.
The group said President Trump had created a "border war situation".
Other marches were planned throughout the country, including Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Francisco.
In Tijuana, supporters and members of the migrant caravan started walking towards the border. They protest and demand that their asylum requests be processed.

This comes after the Trump administration has begun work on major immigration law changes, including keeping asylum seekers out of the United States while their claims are examined by the courts.
The mayor of Tijuana has declared a humanitarian crisis as thousands of migrants live in overcrowded shelters, waiting to enter the United States.
