Mike Stoops is the defensive coordinator of Oklahoma in the wake of Saturday's Sooners' 48-45 defeat against Texas, confirmed many sources at ESPN.

Stoops' shooters have been reported for the first time by Football Brainiacs.

Stoops, the younger brother of former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, and the older brother of Kentucky coach Mark Stoops, had served twice as the defensive coordinator of the Sooners . He returned to Oklahoma in 2012 after being head coach of Arizona for eight years.

Mike Stoops was also in Oklahoma from 1999 to 2003 as an assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator.

The 48 points scored by Texas on Saturday were the most against Oklahoma at the Red River Showdown.

The Sooners had not lost more than 27 points in their first four games of the season, but they conceded 33 points in the win against Baylor two weeks ago and 48 and 501 total yards in their first loss against Longhorns.

After the match, Stoops was held responsible for the defense's performance.

"I am extremely disappointed with my ability to get this team to play at a higher level and everyone has to do the same," he said on Saturday. "Certainly, I take a lot of this responsibility, it's safe."
