Mike McCarthy on the availability of Aaron Rodgers: "It's not a lay-up"

"This is not a layup."

That's what the Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy says about injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers. As Rodgers came out of the locker room for the second half and led the Packers to a comeback against Chicago, Rodgers is expected to fight his injured left knee to face Minnesota on Sunday.

This is not a guarantee, however. Rodgers did not train on Wednesday and he will not train on Thursday. Instead, he will be working in camera at Don Hutson Center.

"Aaron Rodgers will work in the rehab group, "McCarthy said before practice. "We will try to do more today than yesterday, but we'll see how that goes."

On Wednesday, Rodgers said he did not need to train this week to be ready to play the Vikings on Sunday. In grade 11 as a starting quarterback, Rodgers has a lot of experience to rely on. In addition, this will be his eighth career start against Mike Zimmer's Vikings defense, so there is a familiarity factor.

With Rodgers missing the team's biggest training day – and only the jog remaining on Saturday – his mental preparation will have to be enough if he is in alignment.

"You have two types of environments to prepare for the games: you have the classroom environment and you obviously have the environment of practice," said McCarthy. "With him, in the rehabilitation group, he has quite the lead in the classroom and in the various meetings. Today is a very heavy day and that is where his involvement is. "

Speaking to reporters for about 15 minutes Wednesday, Rodgers said "sure" when he was asked if he was fighting a knee sprain.

While Rodgers was limited to being a smuggler for the second half against the Bears, he was incredibly efficient. After being 3-for-7 for 13 yards in the first half, Rodgers had 17 of 23 attempts for 273 yards and three touchdowns in the second period.

"It's very painful and you just have to suck it and play it," he said. "If you watch the movie, there are a number of times that I put on weight and it was like a jolt. It was painful. So, to be in this room, you have to be hard mentally and physically. I've just had the opportunity to show that I was physically tough enough.

If Rodgers does not play, DeShone Kizer will start. Kizer started 15 games as a rookie last season with Cleveland. He has returned to football 28 times in these matches, playing an important role in his 0-15 record. He played miserably against Chicago as well, with his first possession ending with a fumble and his second ending with an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

Recruit not realized Tim Boyle is getting a little offense, but it will be Kizer's show.

Meanwhile, the receiver Davante Adams will be a limited participant in practice after suffering an injured shoulder against the Bears. Adams missed only one slam while he recorded five catches for 88 yards and one touchdown.
