INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts on Sunday launched a new attempt in mid-season against the New York Jets, but they lost 42 to 34.

Although it is disappointing to lose, it is not always the case if one looks at the silver glow. Throughout the game, there has been a handful of outstanding performances to consider as positive.

Here are some of the best Colts player performances for the week according to Pro Football Focus.

Jihad Ward

Defensive Line Player # 4 (89.9), 36 attempts (51%)

The former second-round pick is really needed in Matt Eberflus' system, as Ward recorded his third bag of the season against the Jets. With the bag, he was credited with three tackles and two hurry.

Since he's been named in 2016, Ward has bounced off Oakland Raiders at the Dallas Cowboys and now at the Colts. In just five games in Indianapolis, he has already had a career high of one season in the sacks.

Mike Mitchell

Security # 1 (84.8), 54 snapshots (76%)

The Colts were manhandled by Clayton Geathers in the 6th week after leaving the competition of the 5th week with a neck injury / concussion. They were also forced to place his replacement, Matthias Farley, in the injured reserve.

These injuries led the Colts to recruit Mitchell, a 10-year-old veteran who has played 85 career games, including the most recent with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With just six days between signing and starting the game for the Colts, he received the highest PFF rating for safety in the NFL (not to mention the Monday night football match).

Mitchell was a representative on Week 6 of PFF, NFL Weekly Team:

"Six days after signing with the Colts, Mitchell finds himself in our team of the week. Mitchell made seven tackles in the loss to the Jets and missed none. Of these seven tackles, five resulted in a defensive stop and, while allowing a reception on both games where he was the defender in primary cover, these two receptions totaled six yards."

PFF also introduced Mitchell in an article, highlighting his achievements despite the fact that he has just been signed.

Mitchell's 82.1 in defense of the race placed first in the NFL among security, and his score at 72.6 in 10th. In total, he was credited with five defensive "stops" (good for second place among the securities) and missed zero tackles.

Ryan Kelly

Center No. 3 (79.5), 69 shots (100%)

Another week with more recognition for the Colts' young inner line.

The anchor of the Colts line allowed two pressures / pressures and was only allowed one penalty (illegal block) that day, but he was a road leveler in the game of the race. PFF gave him a score of 89.0 with his run blocking, which helped the Colts run 107 yards on 13 carries (8.2 on average) in the second half only.

Quenton Nelson

Offensive Guard No. 5 (75.7), 69 Frames (100%)

Nelson is back near the summit after making the PFF Week team last week.

The rookie had this welcome moment in the NFL against Jets defensive lineman Leonard Williams – one of the bright and young defensive linemen – but overall, Nelson did a very good game.

According to PFF, he allowed no sacks, no hits, no hurry / pressure and no penalties. As mentioned with Kelly, the Colts opened a ton of holes for the Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines in the second half.
