Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have lost their homes because of a California wildfire, but the famous couple aims to rebuild not only their home but also their community.

Cyrus and Hemsworth donated $ 500,000 to the Malibu Foundation through Cyrus charity, Happy Hippie, said a representative.

The funds will be used for "people in need, emergency assistance, community rebuilding, forest fire prevention and climate change resilience," according to a statement.

Earlier on Tuesday, Hemsworth shared a striking photo of the remains of their home.

"I spent the day in Malibu yesterday and it was amazing to see the community come together to help each other in any way possible," he wrote on social media. "Malibu is a strong community and this event will only make it stronger."

Hemsworth also thanked "all the big guys in the area who helped prevent small fires around my property" as well as the fire department.

Cyrus previously stated that she was devastated by the fires that affected the community.

"I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE have managed to escape safely and that's all that matters for now. wrote on Twitter.

The news of the couple's donation comes one day after actress Sandra Bullock donated $ 100,000 to the Humane Society of Ventura County.

Neil Young, Robin Thicke and Gerard Butler are also celebrities who lost their homes after several fires – the Woolsey Fire in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, Ventura County's Hill Fire and Camp Fire. Butte County – rage in California.
