Minnesota Candidate: Double-Standard Charges Surround Keith Ellison

The candidate against Rep. Keith Ellison for the Minnesota Attorney General said Saturday on Fox & Friends that "the hypocrisy" surrounding the charges of assaulting Ellison was "staggering".

Political activist Karen Monahan claimed that Ellison had physically and emotionally abused her long-term relationship.

Doug Wardlow (R) said Saturday that there was political hypocrisy around the charges against Ellison, while many Democrats quickly jumped on charges of sexual assault against Supreme Court candidate Brett Kavanaugh .

"It's a terrible double standard," Wardlow said.

Monahan's son wrote about the alleged incident involving his mother in a Facebook post, saying that Ellison had dragged her mother by a bed while she was shouting blasphemies.

Ellison is also vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee.

"What should happen is that there should be a full hearing of Ms. Monahan and her story," Wardlow said.

Ellison denied Monahan's allegations Friday during a debate against Wardlow, also refuting allegations made by another woman, Amy Alexander.

"The hypocrisy is staggering – it's all political," Wardlow said. "[Ellison’s] pledge to use the Attorney General's office to wage a war against President Trump, to impede President Trump's agenda, which is totally inappropriate. "
