Kiera Bergman, 19, who has been missing in Arizona for just over a month, was found dead, authorities said Wednesday.
His remains were found Monday in a remote area, according to the Republic of Arizona. A passerby saw the body and called the authorities.
The Phoenix police said they were investigating his death as a homicide.
Bergman's father, Chris Bragg, told the Republic that the family "is devastated". It was Bergman's mother, Kiersten Bragg, who received the police's call that the teenager had been found, he added.

Bergman had moved from San Diego to Phoenix, Arizona in March and was living with his boyfriend, Jon-Christopher Clark, 23, although she recently moved.
Clark, arrested last month on unrelated charges, is the last person to have seen Bergman alive. Prior to his arrest, he told the Huffington Post that he had quarreled with Bergman about the money on Saturday, August 4, and that he left his apartment that afternoon, he added.

"I love Kiera with all my heart and I will never do anything negative or put her in danger," he wrote. "… I have only been open and honest with the investigators and the Kieras family."
Clark remains in detention on unrelated charges. He is not considered a suspect or a person of interest in the case.
For the moment, Chris Bragg said that they were waiting for officials to release their daughter's body.
"Once they release her, we will pick her up and take her home," he said.
No suspects have been identified in the case.
