A Missouri woman was accused Wednesday of stealing pain medication to her terminally ill daughter, Kansas City Star reported.

Carol Ballweg, 46, of Troy, has been charged with four counts of stealing a controlled substance and two counts of abuse on a vulnerable person, the television channel reported.
In a press release, medical workers taking care of Ballweg's 20-year-old daughter called the police on Monday because they feared the woman would not receive her doses of oxycodone and fentanyl.
Police said Ballweg had confessed to being opioid dependent and using the drugs himself. Bond is set at $ 100,000. No attorneys are listed for Ballweg in court records online.
If Ballweg is released, she can not be in touch with her daughter, the police said in a press release.
The medical staff reportedly made numerous calls to a line of assistance regarding the girl's care. Specifically, the staff worried after Ballweg repeatedly asked that the drugs be filled before the scheduled date.
A urine test on the dying patient, conducted on Sept. 7, revealed that there was "no sign of her prescribed medications in her system," police said.
When police searched Ballweg's home Tuesday, she confessed to opioid addiction and stealing prescription drugs, the Star reported.
