Mary Halsey, the woman who became viral for her interpretation of Missy ElliottThe hit "Work It" appeared on Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres show and had the ultimate surprise when the rapper joined him on the stage.
As fans will remember, Halsey was catapulted into the internet fame this summer after posting a video of her song at Goddard Park in Rhode Island. Elliott was so fond of her performance that she shared it on Twitter and consolidated her status as "funky white sister" of the artist.
"It was a shock, I never expected that," Halsey told his host. Ellen Degeneres. "I put it there and I said," Do you want to become viral? "But I never thought it would happen."
During her interview, Halsey revealed that she had been playing the song for 15 years and that she had been inspired to learn the lyrics of a contest in 2003.
"I learned and I read the words, I studied them and the reaction I had was so positive that she became my favorite song," she said. she declared. "Everyone wants to hear it."
DeGeneres also wanted to hear a live performance, so she asked Halsey to show off her skills on stage. DeGeneres, guest colleague Kristen Bell and audience members all vibrated on the music while Halsey raps the lyrics with ease. However, their enthusiasm reached another level after the Grammy winner came out on stage and started performing alongside her.
Elliott even congratulated Halsey for his skills after their performance.
"She knows all the words and I forget my own words," she said. "It's amazing."
She also gave Halsey an autographed jersey and DeGeneres gave her a dazzled jacket that said "Missy Funky White Sister" on the back.
