Mets could negotiate with Zack Wheeler before the transaction deadline
New York has received several inquiries about a potential deal for the 28-year-old launcher, according to a New York Times report. Wheeler recorded a 2-6 record with a 4.47 ERA this season

Les Mets would consider dealing with Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard. But an unnamed American League scout told the Boston Globe earlier this month that Wheeler was the most likely pitcher to participate in a trade.
Wheeler was selected in the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Giants. . He was traded to the Mets as a prospect for Carlos Beltran in July 2011.
Wheeler has struggled consistently at the MLB level. He has a record of 23-29 with a 4.01 ERA throughout his career.
Wheeler missed all the 2015 and 2016 fiscal year after being operated on by Tommy John
The Mets started their match Friday against the Marlins with a record of 32-46. They opened season 11-1.
