Monday baseball scores
Verlander returns to Detroit
Justin Verlander made his first start in Detroit last Monday since last August's trade that sent him to the Astros. The Tigers honored Verlander with a video tribute.
Once the game started, the Tigers did not find themselves fond of their old aces. Rather, Verlander closed the Detroit bats, holding them two deserved points in seven innings. He allowed six hits and a walk and eliminated 10 batters en route to victory.
Verlander is now five rounds of his 11th season of 200 innings.
Kluber leaves early
Corey Kluber made his 30th start. He served the third time this year, he failed to get into the fifth inning – in fact, it was the second time that he could not work in the third.
Placing against the rays, Kluber recorded a first easy run before hitting the turbulence in the second. He allowed five hits and four points and was beaten with two outs in the inning. Kluber even allowed a home match to Jake Bauers, who has not performed well in recent weeks.
Kluber had already left after 1 2/3 innings on June 26 against the cardinals.
