The hugely successful animated Disney movie will leave Netflix on December 20th to make way for a new series of films for the holiday and New Year season.

Auli'i Cravalho, the Hawaiian-born actress who portrays Moana, told PEOPLE in October that she wanted fans to feel welcome to dress up as the leading dynamic actress. and volunteer Halloween.

The teenager said that she felt lucky that Moana is part of a new wave of Disney heroines giving positive examples of female models to young kids, though she has a lot to do with the Disney princesses who came before.
"I think each of the Disney princesses reflects their times," she said. "In this day of age, we definitely need a heroine who is the heroine of her own story, who travels beyond what her parents did, who breaks the mold."
