Authorities in Montana will resume tests of wildlife killed by hunters in parts of the state this fall to see if animals have brain meltdown.

According to Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials, the monitoring effort will begin with the large game season on October 20th and will include parts of northern, western and southern Montana.

Chronic debilitating disease is a deadly neurological disease that can infect elk and moose.

State officials have also imposed restrictions prohibiting the transport of brain or spinal material from animals harvested in areas where the disease was discovered.
