WASHINGTON – A teenager has been arrested and charged for threatening students at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland.

On October 12, several students at Walter Johnson High School told the resource officer at their school that Luis Amilcar Cabrera, 18, of Rockville, had posted a photo of himself holding a AR-15 rifle loaded with the caption "School shooter" at Snapchat, according to a press release from Montgomery County Police.

Police say Cabrera is a former high school student at Walter Johnson High School.

Students who reported Cabrera reported posting similar messages last month, including those who said, "I hate WJ" and "Ha, ah, I'm going to shoot down school."

In the videos that he posted, Cabrera stated that he owned the AR-15 and kept it to him at all times to protect himself. According to the press release, he was also seen with a KelTek 40 caliber rifle.

At a press conference on October 20, Montgomery County Police Captain Paul Starks said Cabrera was staying in an apartment in the Towson area with friends.

When the police arrested Cabrera, they also managed to recover the AR-15 and KelTek rifles seen at his posts, as well as ammunition for both firearms.

Montgomery County police accused Cabrera of a mass violence threats leader on Friday. He is detained without commitment.

The first Cabrera hearing will be held on Monday, Oct. 22 at 8:30 am in the Rockville District Court.
