Commercial space flight company Moon Express, Inc., one of the five groups that worked to lay a robotic probe on the moon as part of the old Google Lunar X Award, opened an office in Canada and established partnerships with Canadian Space Agency (THAT'S IT) and with various Canadian companies and academic institutions.

Moon Express Inc., which will be based in Ontario, signed a memorandum of understanding on October 3 at the International Astronomical Congress in Bremen, which should allow the company to join Canadian companies and scientists in continue exploring the Moon.
"We are excited to be working with the Canadian space sector at the dawn of a new exciting era of lunar exploration. We are looking forward to working with the THAT'S IT and our industry and academic partners to create new opportunities for Canadian science and technology in exploring the Moon and its vast resources, "said Richards, born in Canada.
Moon Express also signed collaboration agreements with the University of Guelph in Ontario and with businesses Canadensys Aerospace Corporation, Deltion Innovations, Gedex Systems, Inc.. Space Mission Control Services, Inc.. NGC Aerospace, and Teledyne Optech. All are based in Ontario.
The company hopes that these joint efforts will foster cooperation with the United States, Europe and other countries in the exploration of the Moon through the contribution of Canada's unique space technologies.
Founded in 2010, Moon Express, based in Cape Canaveral, Florida, plans to begin scheduled flights to the moon in 2020. Its goal is to provide steady access to the lunar surface at an affordable cost for science and exploration and for research new resources for return to Earth.
