The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission said people spent more than $ 440,000 on products at two new marijuana retail stores in Leicester and Northampton on Tuesday.
In total, more than 10,000 individual items were sold.

The commission issued final licenses on Tuesday to two more retail stores in Salem and Easthampton, which could open in the coming weeks. But until now, there are no pot-shops in the greater Boston area, where more than half of the state's population resides.
