The Bay Area may be the richest corner of America.

Forbes report details the richest 400 billionaires in the US in all sectors (food, technology, real estate, equity and entertainment) and reveals that 50 of them live in the Bay Area (and one of them in Santa Cruz).

Four billionaires from the San Francisco Bay Area, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, Google, Larry Page and Google, Sergey Brin, are among the 10 richest Americans. Zuckerberg, the richest Californian worth $ 61 billion, is the fourth richest in the country.

The ranking also includes a "philanthropy score" of 1-5, with 5 being the most philanthropic. Zuckerberg, Laurene Powell Jobs, Dustin Moskovitz on Facebook and many others in the San Francisco Bay Area are also posting positive results, with these three people also listed as "Impact Investors".

Several new local entrants have been added to the list this year; Chris Larsen of Ripple, who earned his living in crypto-currency, won a place, as did Dropbox CEO Drew Houston.

At the national level, Forbes has noted a dramatic change in the list: after 24 years at the top of the rankings, Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos, has resigned from Microsoft CEO Bill Gates.

Bezos was also the biggest winner of the list this year: his fortune has increased by $ 78.5 billion since last year, thanks to the rise of more than 100% in the price of Amazon shares, the biggest gain of a year since we follow closely, "Forbes wrote. "Gates, now ranked No. 2, ahead of Bezos by a remarkable $ 63 billion."
