A Wisconsin robbery suspect reportedly went to the police after he could no longer take mosquitoes.

John Wilson reportedly led police officers in Campbellsport on Tuesday as he was driving another suspect, who has not yet been arrested, far from a shop he had just robbed, WDJT-TV reported.

The authorities allegedly followed Wilson in a high-speed chase, before Wilson got out of the car and escaped on foot.

The area was flooded with mosquitoes – so much so that Chief Thomas Dornbrook said that when the sheriff's office officials arrived, he immediately asked for an insect repellent.

"It's the first thing I asked for, it could give me a spray because it was crazy," Dornbrook told the news station.

Nearly an hour later, Wilson went to the police because he could not stand the mosquitoes that stung his skin anymore.

"When we handcuffed him, he asked us to wipe his brow since he had 15-20 mosquitoes on his forehead at that time," said the chief of police.

"I think that if there were no mosquitoes, he would have continued walking and trying to be driven by someone," Dornbrook said. "I'm teasing Sergeant Zitlow, he and a million mosquitoes helped capture the guy."

Wilson was accused of fugitives, retail theft and obstruction of an agent.
