A Missouri-based mom was arrested this week for taking pain medication to her terminally ill daughter – and she took it herself, the cops said.

Carol Ballweg, 46, was the primary caregiver of her 20-year-old daughter, identified only as "CM," and was to supply fentanyl and oxycodone for pain relief, Troy police said in a statement. .

Troy Family Practice staffers called local police Monday to report "patient-related neglect and addiction issues," police said.

Earlier, they had made several phone calls about the young woman's care – expressing concern that Ballweg repeatedly asked for the drugs to be filled sooner than necessary, the police said. CM's home care provider also set off the alarm.

The doctors decided to find CM's urine and find no trace of his medication, which led them to stop filling prescriptions, the cops said.

Meanwhile, while her mother was taking her pills out, police said her helpless daughter had developed bed sores, which could put her life in danger.

On Tuesday, the cops executed a search warrant at Ballweg's home – where she imagined she was opioid addicted and taking medication herself.

According to the police, she was charged with four counts of stealing a controlled substance and two counts of abuse of a person with a disability or vulnerability.

Her bond was set at $ 100,000, and a judge ordered that she cut off contact with her daughter.
