October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Mount St. Mary's Hospital will be hosting free mammography screening from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Saturday, October 13 at the hospital, 5300 Military Road in Lewiston.

Patients need a prescription from their doctor and should not have undergone mammography in the last year. Appointments are mandatory

Mount St. Mary's offers both "regular" mammography tests in 2D and 3D mammograms, also known as tomosynthesis or "tomo". Patients should discuss with their provider the test that suits them when obtaining their prescription.

The events are courtesy of the Niagara Falls Country Club "Play Fore Pink" Golf Tournament and Dr. Timothy Dyster, a radiologist.

"With the support of the community, we are able to provide this important screening, regardless of the insurance status," said hospital president and CEO Gary Tucker. "October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and digital mammography is the most important test for detecting breast cancer."

Free screenings are by appointment only. Appointments are limited and can be made by calling 716-298-2370. Due to the limited number of appointments, the hospital can not accommodate appointments for this event.
