State Representative Claudia Griffith passed away on Saturday, authorities confirmed. She was 67 years old.
"We are stunned and overwhelmed by the news of the sudden disappearance of Representative Claudia Griffith this afternoon, keep your loved ones in your thoughts," said Cleveland County Democratic Party officials on Facebook. Griffith, a Democrat representing Norman, was running for District 16 in the state of Oklahoma State and was involved in a second round against Mary B. Boren. Griffith received 32.84% of the vote in the primary election on June 26th.
She was elected to the House of Representatives of Oklahoma in 2014 and has served on the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, the Government Modernization Committee, the Votes and the Budget. Committee and the Committee on Credits and Budget for Health. Griffith has also been the volunteer chair of the Parent-Teacher Association at Jefferson Elementary School, Longfellow Middle School, and Norman North High School.
Griffith was a registered nurse and held a master's degree in public health at the University of Oklahoma. She was Executive Director of the nonprofit Health for Friends

"Claudia Griffith was a truly wonderful and thoughtful woman who was passionate about improving our health care system and the fact that more Oklahomans had access to quality medical care, and she had a true love to serve others, I will miss her very much, and I will pray for her family. "
