LOS ANGELES –

A 91-year-old actor, known for his role in the television series "Boy Meets World," thwarted a burglary attempt at his home in Los Angeles, authorities said.

William Daniels, who represented teacher George Feeny at the 1990s show, was at home with his 89-year-old wife Bonnie Bartlett on Saturday night at the start of the incident.

Shortly before 9:30 pm, the potential intruder forced a back door, said a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Daniels reacts quickly by turning on the lights in the house.

"Fortunately, Mr. Daniels managed to scare the person and the LAPD responded quickly," said the actor's publicist in a statement to sister channel KABC. "They're both fine, Mr. Daniels thanks all his fans for their concern."

LAPD investigators do not believe that the couple was targeted.

A description of the suspect was not available.

Daniels is also known for his role of Dr. Mark Craig on "St. Elsewhere "and expressing KITT on" Knightrider ".
