MSNBC hosts parade after Kanye and Trump press conference

MSNBC hosts Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle had nothing to say about Kanye West's press conference Thursday afternoon, titled Ovale Office, calling the 10-minute monologue of the rapper's freewheel "an assault on our White House ".

After having broadcast the press conference live, the hosts spent much of their afternoon discussing it.

"It was bonkers," began Velshi.

Ruhle intervened, "If you think you're going to get a thorough analysis of the game after game and political analysis, you're not, because it was an assault on our White House."

Velshi nodded, "You can not analyze some of the things that have been said."

The two men then spotted some remarks that the West made while sitting in front of the president at the Resolute office, wearing a hat "Make America Great Again". Ruhle stated that she was particularly disgusted by the rapper's statement that he likes to wear the MAGA hat because it makes him feel like "Superman" and that he was attracted to Trump's campaign because of the "male energy" of the candidate.

"I'm just stunned," said Ruhle.

The 41-year-old rapper, who has been the subject of much criticism for his very strong support of Trump and his controversial comments on issues like slavery, jumped from a topic to the Another, discussing criminal justice reform, an Air Force One designed by Apple, and his own mental health diagnosis. At one point, he called himself a "mother of the family" and compared his speech to a "good wine … it has many notes".

Velshi said that he thought the president and the West would stick to topics that the rapper apparently came to talk to the White House: mainly prison reform and the reduction of violence to Chicago. West's wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian West, successfully lobbied the White House to obtain a pardon from a drug-related offender earlier this year.
