CHICAGO – For the second year in a row, the Gophers are in the All-Big Ten pre-season squad with senior striker Jordan Murphy, the conference announced Thursday morning.

Murphy, a 6-foot-7, 250-pound San Antonio native, led the Gophers in goals (16.8 points per game) and Big Ten rebounds (11.3) last season. He won the honors of the second team in the All-Big Ten category after being one of the conference player's favorites of the year.

Last season, Murphy was tied with DeAndre Ayton of Arizona, with 24 doubles doubles to lead the country. He set a school record in one season with 361 rebounds as a junior.

Carsen Edwards of Purdue, Ethan Happ of Wisconsin, James Palmer Jr. of Nebraska, Cassius Winston and Nick Ward of Michigan State, Anthony Cowan of Maryland, Juwan Morgan and Romeo Langford of Indiana joined Murphy. Charles Matthews from Michigan.

In 2017, two players were selected in the Ten Ten BI team, with Nate Mason and Amir Coffey. Coffey, a Hopkins junior guard, returns with Murphy this season to give the Gophers one of the best indoor-outdoor tandems in the conference.

In the spring, Murphy had decided not to qualify for the NBA Draft, but the league staff had let him know where he needed to improve his game. He spoke this summer of some "unfinished business" for his senior season at U.
