Mahershala Ali plays a detective haunted by a decades-old mystery in the latest trailer for the long-awaited third season of HBO. True detective.
Season 3 of Nic Pizzolatto's Criminal Anthology features winner of an Oscar Ali, Wayne Hays, a Northwestern Arkansas State Police Inspector charged with to investigate the disappearance of two young children; as Hays reveals in the trailer, the case is the last.
"The new season tells the story of a grisly crime in the heart of the Ozarks and a mystery that deepens over the decades and takes place over three distinct periods," said HBO about Season 3 .
In the last trailer, Hays summarizes what happened during the three periods. "My whole brain is a bunch of missing pieces," says Hays in voiceover. "What I've seen, what I've known, will only cause harm … That's all I can think of. Nobody will know the real story. "
After a disappointing second season and an interruption of nearly four years, True detective returns to HBO on January 13, 2019.
