HWomen's minority leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Said Tuesday night that the Democratic Party will win it next week in the 2018 mid-term elections.

"Until today, I would have said that if the elections were held today, we would win," Pelosi told Stephen Colbert about the Late Show. "Now, I say, we will win."

Colbert jokingly said she should not say that and asked her if she wanted to make these claims to former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton after losing to President Trump.

"We will win, we have the field … Democrats will carry the House, and if we win a bigger victory – the Senate, the governorates – it will be a great night for America," said Pelosi. public, but skeptical of the host, who asked if she was already measuring curtains.

In answering many of his questions, Pelosi prefaced his answers with phrases such as, "when we win," extolling his confidence that Democrats would get a majority at least in the House.

In 2016, many expressed confidence that Clinton would win the presidency over Trump, which is why Colbert was so hesitant to agree with Pelosi.

Mid-term elections take place in less than a week.
