A wildfire in unincorporated Napa County burned 1,700 acres on Saturday, caused forced evacuations and road closures, and threatened 180 structures, fire officials said.
Snell fire in the grassy woods seven miles southeast of Middletown, near Butts Canyon Road and Snell Valley Road, was reported for the first time at 2:25 pm. Saturday. At 8:49 pm, the fire was contained at 10%, according to Cal Fire.
Authorities indicated that mandatory evacuation orders were issued for residents on the west side of Berryessa Knoxville Road, from the Pope Creek Bridge to the Lake-Napa County Line, to Snell Valley and all roads leading to Snell Valley. and Berryessa Estates. An evacuation center has been set up at Pope Valley Farm Center on Chiles Pope Valley Road.
