NASA has appointed Holly Ridings to the position of Director of Chief Flight, marking the first time that a woman holds this position.

Ridings, who has been with NASA since 1998, will take over the lead group manned flight operations from the Mission Control Center at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, the space agency said in a statement. communicated.
The position will see Ridings manage 32 flight directors and flight directors trainees working on missions involving the International Space Station and the Orion spacecraft. She replaces Norm Knight, who has been in post since 2012 and has been promoted to Assistant Director of Flight Operations.
"Holly has turned out to be a leader among a group of very talented flight directors," said Brian Kelly, director of airline operations. "She will lead the team for exciting times as she adapts to future missions with commercial partners and beyond the low Earth orbit."
