With the passage of Hurricane Florence on the east coast, NASA has released a video and breathtaking photos of the storm from space.

A high-definition camera outside the International Space Station captured the video on Tuesday.

"Ever seen the eye of a category 4 hurricane? It's scary, even from space," said Alexander Gerst, an astronaut from the European Space Agency who currently lives on the ISS, on Twitter.

On Wednesday, forecasters predicted that Florence – now a category 4 hurricane – would likely slow down and turn south after slamming the east coast.

More than one million people have been ordered to evacuate the coastal areas before the arrival of Florence, where the winds are sustained at 130 km / h.
