Podcasts are again popular and it seems like a new one appears each week covering a particular topic or hobby. NASA counts among them, revealing the launch of a new podcast called The invisible network. The space agency describes this project as a limited edition podcast, already featuring six episodes that can be uploaded to popular platforms.
"This new podcast brings listeners a side of NASA that they may have never heard of before," the space agency said in its statement. The audio series describes "technologies essential to spaceflight, but often neglected," according to NASA, which aired its episodes on Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud and on its own website.
The book Read loud and clear published in 2008 by former NASA engineer Sunny Tsiao inspired the title of the podcast. The space agency's networks are not easily visible, NASA points out, "unless they're not up to it," but the podcast will help change that.
Auditors are introduced to NASA's "invisible" technologies, as well as to the "human aspect" of the space agency's work. A teaser episode shows all the data that NASA sends every day to Earth and the technology that makes it possible – the ones detailed in this new series.
NASA has not specified whether it plans to publish more than the first six episodes of this series, but it offers other podcast offerings on different topics. The space agency has already released audio series such as "Gravity Assist" and "Rocket Ranch", all covering various people, technologies, science and the universe that surrounds us.
