Joey Logano won his first league title in the NASCAR Cup Series Sunday after siding with rival Martin Truex Jr. in the last 15 laps.

Of course, Truex Jr. proclaimed Oct. 28 that it would not let Logano win the championship after Logano crashed for Truex Jr. to prevail in Martinsville. But Truex Jr. could not stop it when Logano moved ahead of it in the deciding race of the Homestead-Miami Speedway circuit.

Among the championship contenders this year, Logano was the only untitled driver. Truex Jr. won the title last year, while Kyle Busch triumphed in 2015 and Kevin Harvick in 2014. From now on, Logano joins the sport's elite at 28.
