ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, said on Tuesday that the government would provide all possible assistance to the Sharif family, according to the law, after the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz in London .

While expressing sorrow at the death, the minister acknowledged that the wife of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was a "courageous and dignified" woman.

According to the law, the deposed prime minister, Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and his son-in-law, captain (retd) Safdar, could be conditionally released for 12 hours to attend the funeral of Begum Kulsoom, he added. "The government would act on the demand for Sharif's release in accordance with the law," he added. "They (Sharifs) would receive all possible assistance, as permitted by law."

Speaking about the PTI government's program, the minister told the government that Prime Minister Imran Khan would make some big decisions in the coming days.

Meanwhile, according to a 24/7 Tribune report, members of the Sharif family in London will offer funeral prayers for Begum Kulsoom Nawaz on Thursday. The chain said the body would be transferred to Pakistan on Friday.

According to the report, the sons of Sharif, Hussain and Hassan Nawaz, will not come to Pakistan for the burial of their mother. Shehbaz Sharif will arrive in London to bring the body back to Pakistan.

The report also said that several supporters of the Pakistani Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had gathered at the mosque of reagents to condemn the disappearance.
