It was a small pre-season NBA slate Thursday night, but two of the league's best-known teams – the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets – were in action. That means we have had a lot of highlights from LeBron James, Chris Paul and James Harden, as well as other odd things you will only see during the pre-season.

NBA pre-season scores for Thursday, October 4
Oh, hey LeBron
OK, now we are talking. LeBron James played until now a limited number of minutes this preseason and did not really assert offensive, but on Thursday we started to see a glimpse of what LeBron has in store for the season regular. The King had 18 points, four assists and three rebounds in 15 minutes, and dazzled the Staples Center crowd, eager to see LeBron at full power.
Ingram point on the display
With Lonzo Ball and Rajon Rondo both absent, Brandon Ingram took the reins as leader for the Lakers. Ingram played a lot of points last season, but it's different with LeBron on the pitch. Needless to say, it did not bother him. He had 31 points and nine rebounds and seemed to be the best player on the ground for much of the game. He also touched a clutch bucket late (we do not know why he was still in the game) to help the Lakers win.
Melo might like this offense
It's only been a few games, but Carmelo Anthony looks rather comfortable in the Rockets offensive. He scored 16 points, including 4 of 6 3 points, and had five rebounds in his home debut in Houston. Melo is going to have a ton of open looks with Chris Paul and James Harden at the head of the show. So we will just have to see if he can shoot them down regularly.
Fox gets hot from deep
On leaving the university, De 'Aaron Fox, the Kings' fast goalkeeper, said he could not shoot, and he hardly contradicted this idea during his season rookie last season. A regular rider would open all kinds of ways to the Fox and Kings offensive. So they had to be excited to see him blast on Thursday night. Fox scored 18 points in 17 minutes and scored 4-6 on a distance of 3 points. He made just over three 3-pointers in a game just once last season. Sacramento is looking for something with its young players this year, and Fox can be ready to take a big step forward.
Oladipo picks up where he left off
Those of you who are considering a regression for last year 's discussion star, Victor Oladipo, should probably reconsider their decision. The Pacers guard seemed confident against the Rockets on Thursday, scoring 24 points in 24 minutes on a smooth shot. Oladipo looks to be ready to continue his momentum of the All Star Game and the Pacers are going to be a tough team in the East.
Quick foul for Skal
Apparently Skal Labissiere has trouble understanding the new points of importance for NBA referees. The big Kings man missed the game just four minutes into the third quarter – yeah, that's six fouls in 12 minutes. Certainly not a pre-season record, but certainly remarkable. Congratulations, Skal.
