Basketball player Timberwolves Jimmy Butler wants to leave Minnesota, according to almost every national basketball reporter. The place where he will meet is the NBA season begins in just over two weeks. Everything in the situation is quite strange.

On Bill Simmons 'podcast, basketball writer Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer offered a nugget about the Sixers' involvement in Butler's trades: The Wolves reportedly asked for Ben Dang Simmons.

Yes, this Ben Simmons.

The full exchange, from this podcast:

Kevin O'Connor: For example, with the Sixers initial offer, the counter-offer was: "We need Ben Simmons in an agreement."

Bill Simmons: Is it true?

Kevin O'Connor: It's things like that, counter-offers like this, that make you think, "Is this really real?"

PhillyVoiceKyle Neubeck reported last week that the Sixers were "extremely suspicious" of negotiating for Butler, in part because of his past clashes with younger teammates. The Sixers, according to this author, would probably want Simmons to play for them.

To put it plainly: this agreement would not be acceptable to the Sixers.

And so, Butler's commercial wheel continues to spin. Thank God, the regular season is almost here.
