Week 3 of the college football AP was released, and the Pac-12 was responsible for the little shake.
The biggest upheaval of last week was that of the Arizona State. Not only did the Sun Devils, led by Herm Edwards, climb into the Top 25 in 23rd place, but they also scored 10 Spartans at the bottom of the club.
The other major development was No. 10 Stanford dealing with cases against No. 17 USC. Normally, you would not see a team penalize so much for losing a tight road match against a Top 10 team, but the Trojans were so disappointing in the 17-3 defeat.–and the teams previously behind them were so impressive this week-Which dropped five places to number 22.
And that's all about important movements. No other team moved more than three places during a week when the biggest disturbances (Purdue, North Carolina, etc.) were well out of the rankings.
At least some changes took place at the end of the poll. No. 24 South Carolina and No. 25 Florida also fell in the second week, helping two new teams to win a brilliant new number next to their names: Arizona State and Oklahoma State.

The USC Trojans were already on the ice with the AP voters.
Ranked # 15 in the pre-season poll, the Trojans had one of the least impressive performances of Week 1. This was not a loss. Heck, they won by 22 points. But it was not until the fourth quarter that they finally won in a home match against UNLV.
The USC offensive seemed terribly young. (He is.) And the defense has granted 308 rushing yards to an opponent who has only played one match per game since 2000. As a result, the Trojans have slipped two places to 17th before the shock of Week 2 with Stanford. .
However, instead of a clash, it was no longer a moan. The Trojans managed a single goal on the field, ending the game with an equal number of points scored and turnovers committed. The defense was much better, despite some big jumps from Bryce Love. But the attack never came in a defeat of 17-3.
If they bounce back with a convincing victory over Texas next week, there is a good chance the Trojans will be back in the top 20 at next Sunday's poll. Until then, they will be quite about to fall from the rankings.

Just like the USC, Michigan State had already lost favor with AP voters before its tough game of Week 2 against a Pac-12 opponent.
The Spartans needed a time to defeat a home point against Utah State. Although they won 38-31, this fear was enough for them to move from 11th to 15th place. Even Penn State did not lose four places after its miraculous victory over the Appalachian state. -confidence in the state of Michigan.
Rather than prove that voters are mistaken with a winning statement, Sparty has repeatedly failed in a 16-13 loss to Arizona State.
The Spartans had only three points possession and they even gained at least 19 yards on eight of the ten records, but they did a lot of good on the scoreboard.–In particular, their defense allowed the Sun Devils to rebuild seven records of at least 40 yards.
Maybe it was the late start time. It may have been the temperature. Or it is also possible that this team is not that good. Whatever the cause of their disappearance, the Spartans will enter their week off with a serious danger of being unclassified for week 4. After receiving 684 votes in last week's poll, they slipped at No. 25 with 104 votes this week.– only 12 more than Utah and 14 more than Texas A & M.

When Arizona State announced in December that it was hiring Herm Edwards as head coach, the national media lost their collective spirit. Edwards had not coached since 2008 and had not been a college coach since coaching the San Jose State defensive back in 1989.
How would this 64 year old man go out for a decade in the NFL studio and run a college program?
Nine months later, it would be irresponsible to say that there was a better hiring decision than this one.
Edwards and the Sun Devils smoked UTSA in the first game of the season behind unrelenting defensive pressure. They recorded nine bags and held the Roadrunners only 221 yards.
In case you thought it was just the result of facing a low-level opponent of the USA Conference, Arizona State again flexed its defensive muscles in a 16-13 victory over the Michigan State's 15th . Enough voters took note of the result late at night to bring Arizona State into the AP poll at number 23.
Maintaining this ranking is going to be quite a challenge. Three of the ASU's next six games are against ranked opponents (Washington, Stanford and USC) and two of the other three are tough games (in San Diego State and Colorado). But even if the Sun Devils fall on their faces from here, it is Edwards who have integrated them into the ballot for the first time since the 2015 pre-season.

All last week's Top 14 teams won this week, most convincingly. As a result, there was not much movement in the top half of the survey.
One of the exceptions to this rule was Clemson number 2, who won 28-26 after barely surviving the frantic Texas A & M return attempt.
With the exception of Notre Dame's 24-16 close call with Ball State, Clemson was the only team in the top 14 who struggled to add to his winning streak. And the Tigers paid the price for this distinction.
They received 12 first-place votes last week and a 117-vote vote on No. 3 Georgia. Hard to believe they could lose as much of a lead following a win, but the Bulldogs gave South Carolina so successful that it became difficult for voters to justify keeping the Tigers in front of the SEC's Playoffs contenders.
Six of those 12 first-place votes were won in Alabama, and the gap between the second and third ranks was reduced to 23 votes.
Clemson is still No. 2, but he no longer feels like Alabama, Clemson and everyone else. The Tigers have slipped into the bunch, which could be a remarkable development, given their lack of opportunities for brand victories before the VAC championship.

Without a doubt, the SEC is still the conference to beat. The top polling station of the PA is still cluttered with teams from the Southeast Conference, the cities of Alabama No. 1, Georgia, No. 7 Auburn, no 12 and Mississippi account for 31.3% of 16., if you will.
But with the No. 24 South Carolina and the No. 25 Florida, both home defeats in an unimaginable way, the SEC has gone from a team with seven teams ranked to one with five teams only.
Two voters left the Gamecocks at number 25 on their ballots for some reason, but the Gators have not received a single vote this week. Instead, the most prominent representation of the SEC in the poll's "Other Recipients" section is Texas A & M, whose vote count has more than tripled from 29 to 90 after the near-rollover. from Clemson.
The surprise is that Kentucky has not had a little more respect for beating Florida for the first time since 1986–and on the road, no less. Had the Wildcats looked a little more impressive in their first game of the season against Central Michigan, they might have received more than 19 votes this week. But with home games against the state of Mississippi and South Carolina coming before the end of the month, they will be much more likely to prove their affiliation.

Despite the loss of Mason Rudolph, James Washington and Marcell Ateman in the NFL, the Oklahoma State has been destroying teams outside the national spotlight.
Between the win against Missouri State and last week's loss to southern Alabama, the Cowboys surpassed their opposition by a combined margin of 875 yards.
Top quarter Taylor Cornelius finally has a chance to shine, and the first results are obviously good. He had 300 yards and five touchdowns in the first week before moving up to 428 yards against the United States.
And what is impressive is that they did this without relying too much on the guys who had to be the stars. Judge Hill had 15 touchdowns and nearly 1,500 yards last season, but he has only 19 assists so far. Top receivers Jalen McCleskey and Dillon Stoner have teamed up for a modest 16 receptions for 160 yards.
Once these players have started, this offense could be even more unstoppable.
Thanks to the aforementioned losses of South Carolina and Florida, Oklahoma State makes its debut in 2018 in the Top 25 AP at number 24– just in time for the big showdown of Week 3 with Boise State No. 17. Winning this one and Cornelius & Co. should most likely enter the Top 20 next Sunday.
