Nearly 100,000 pounds of beef recalled before Thanksgiving

Swift Beef Company recalls approximately 99,260 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli, the Food Safety and Food Inspection Service of the Department of Agriculture of the United States announced Saturday. -United.

The problem was discovered on November 15, 2018, when FSIS visited Swift Beef Company in response to a sample from another treatment facility that was later confirmed positive for E. coli O157: H7.

The affected products that were recalled on November 16 were shipped to retailers for processing and use in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. They also carry the establishment number "EST. 628" inside the USDA inspection mark.

The ground beef products were manufactured on October 24, 2018. The following items are on the recall list:

• 2,000 lbs. – bulk pallets of Swift 81/19 (81% lean) Ground Beef containing finely ground fine sheep product code 42982.

• 8 to 10 lbs – 81/19 (81% lean) ground beef wrapped in plastic and coarse grain with product code 42410.

• 8 to 10 lbs – blue ribbon chubs covered with plastic "Beef 93/07 (93% lean)" with product code 42413.

• 8 to 10 lbs – 85/15 (85% lean) ground beef chests covered with plastic and covered with plastic containing product code 42415.

• 73/27 ground beef, plastic coated, ground 73/27 (73% lean), plastic coated beef, product code 42510.

Although there have been no immediate reports of reactions related to these products, anyone concerned should contact a health care provider.
